Career: Bessie Hutchins is an instuctor for the Criminal Justice Department at Livingstone.  

Education: She has recently completed doctoral coursework at The University of Southern Mississippi.  Bessie Hutchins received  her Bachelor of Business Administration and Masters of Science in Criminal Justice from Mississippi Valley State University and has been an active member of the MVSU community since first enrolling as an undergraduate student. She is an active life member of the MVSU National Alumni Association. 

Family:  Bessie is married to Bradford W. Hutchins who is a retired  MVSU Internal Aditor,  MVSU Bookstore Manager, and  Manager of the Leflore County Teachers Federal Credit Union.  Bradford is an active member of the Alcorn State Alumni Association.  Bradford and Bessie have two adult children: Brad and Meloni.

Honors: Bessie is a  member of Phi Kappa Phi, The National Criminal Justice Honor Society,  Charter advisor and member of  Zeta Tau Chapter of Alpha Phi Sigma, and  Golden Key International Honour Society.

Professional Memberships: She is also a member of the following professional organizations Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences,  Southern Criminal Jusitce Association (SCJA), American Society of Criminology (ASC), and the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV)

Hobbies/Interests: Reading,  learning new things, chess, singing, dancing and helping others
